Your Purpose on Earth

  • Have you ever wondered what the purpose of your life is?  Or how the stars in the sky came to be?  Have you ever felt alone in the world?  Unloved?  The answers to all these questions lie with God.  He created you and the world around us.  And He loves you very much.

  • How much does He love us?  He gave us Jesus.
  • The Bible says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."  (John 3:16)

  • Nobody is perfect.  People sin all the time.  Only God is perfect.  How then, can we reach Him?  Through Jesus.  Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

  • "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.'" (John 14:6)

  • How can you experience God in your life?  By accepting, through faith, that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.  How can you do this?  You can do this by praying to God, right now, and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

  • Are you interested in knowing more about God's love and His plans for your life?  Please come visit us at Monterey Park Chinese Baptist Church.  We would be happy to answer any questions you might have, and share with you the promise of God's love.

About MPCBC
  • Our church began in the mid 1970’s as a mission from Crenshaw Baptist Church to serve the needs of the growing Chinese communities West of the San Gabriel Valley which includes Monterey Park, South San Gabriel/Rosemead, and Alhambra. In December, 1975, Monterey Park First Southern Baptist Church (MPFSBC) and Pastor Rev. B.J. Keller opened their facilities so that we can start our first evening Worship Service.
  • As the growth of ethnic groups continued to soar in the area, the need to have a full functioning Chinese Baptist ministry was more than necessary. The mission decided to form into a church to meet the demands of the communities. With the help of mission-minded pastor, Dr. John Watts, and the wisdom of the congregation, MPFSBC decided to accommodate us by moving their own Sunday services one hour earlier so that we could also use the sanctuary on Sunday mornings.
  • On July 3, 1977 at 11:30am, the Chinese mission was officially constituted and became the Monterey Park Chinese Baptist Church (MPCBC) with 13 chartered members.
  • We had our first Mandarin Worship Service on Jan. 3rd, 1988. Our church had attempted to grow the Mandarin Congregation into a Mission. But eventually, this Congregation elected to stay as a unit with the church.

  • We had our first English Worship Service on Feb. 10th, 1991. Since our Cantonese Congregation is made up of families, these families started to have children. The children were raised with English as their first language. As the English speaking children grew up, they started to invite both Asian as well as non-Asian friends to attend the church. The need for a separate English Service became obvious.
  • Our church eventually searched for a property of our own to worship. On Dec. 18th, 1994, we had our first Worship Services in the present premises in the city of Alhambra. We have a sanctuary that seats over 200 where the Mandarin & Cantonese Congregations hold Worship Services.  Attached to the Sanctuary, we have a Fellowship Hall that seats over 100 where the English Congregation hold Worship Services.  We also have a separate 2 story Education/Nursery building where child care and Sunday School classes are held.
